Launched on 14th February 2013 by a major city centre team of churches, Hope+ aims to provide an holistic approach for those living in food poverty in the shadow of the City’s two magnificent Cathedrals.

People can quickly find themselves mired in poverty for a variety of reasons, ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.

Partner agencies – Social Services, GPs, CAB, Whitechapel Centre, Shelter, and other charities – not only distribute vouchers to people experiencing crisis in the inner city area, but also assist us to provide a network of additional support in areas such as housing, debt and benefit advice, and assistance in finding and preparing for employment.

In addition, our partnership with the British Red Cross and other related agencies has enabled us to provide emergency support to newly arrived victims of civil unrest in Syria, Iraq, and other countries. Often arriving with nothing but the clothes they are wearing, and deeply traumatised, we are able to offer a warm welcome from our volunteers, and practical help with food, clothing, and advice.
